INTERNET ARCHIVES

I am a supporter of the Internet Archives project.

From my experience in researching, as the years pass and websites fade away, all the news, stories, media and interviews they once housed vanish with them. This is my personal attempt at trying to bring some of that precious media back to life for old fans to reminisce and revisit, and for a new generation of fans to experience and explore.

Since my main objective as a researcher and a Patton obsessive, is the archival and preservation of any and all media(s) topic related, once the Patton Companion site is fully complete and functional I will begin linking it with the Internet Archives database at https://Archive.org. The idea of having a full, well rounded archive institution for anything that was at one point in time published on the internet is an extraordinary, and invaluable resource for everyone.
The future is going by way of computers/tablets (etc.), I wouldn't be at all surprised if someday tablets completely replaced textbooks in school. That thought alone, (at least to myself), screams at the importance of organizations such as the Archive. Since anyone who has the ability to log onto the internet can easily help contribute to building a bigger, broader archive, I ask anyone interested in the preservation of whatever it is that you find important or have a passion for, to check out the Archives. It's as easy as adding a simple browser extension and clicking a button! By adding a website to the Archives database, it alerts their "bots" to visit that page periodically and take snapshots. These snapshots then work as a Wayback Machine that anyone can access through the Archive website. So say you have a certain website that you check or use for reference often, and one day for whatever reason it goes dark, or is no longer reachable by the servers. If the website you were trying to reach had been at any point added to the Internet Archives, you would still be able to visit that site via their Wayback Machine! The Archive project is much bigger than just that one feature, I invite you to check it out!

They are a free organization, and run solely on donations and the participation of the public.
