FLASHBACK | ANNIVERSARY | TOMAHAWK at London Astoria (2002)

On March 10, 2002, Tomahawk played one of their most famous shows at the Astoria in London, England. The story of what exactly happened remains a rather controversial topic even still. As told by several show go-ers, towards the end of their set, Mike Patton called out to one of the venues' security guards, requesting that he come near. After the security guard approached Patton from below the stage, Patton then exposed himself, and proceeded to urinate on the security staff member. April 26th (1999) is a very special anniversary. It celebrates both the debut self titled album by Fantômas (Amenaza al Mundo) , as well as marks the premiere release from Ipecac Recordings . Fantômas (via Last.fm ) Fantômas is the self-titled debut studio album by American avant-garde metal supergroup Fantômas. It was released on April 26, 1999, and was the first album released on Ipecac Recordings. The cover depicts the Spanish poster for the 1965 French movie Fantômas se déchaîne, translated in Spanish as "Fantômas amenaza al mundo" ("Fantômas threatens the world"). FLASHBACK | ANNIVERSARY | FANTÔMAS SUSPENDED ANIMATION (04/05/2005)

As far as celebrating anniversaries of record releases goes, this one happens to be a personal favorite. The band as well as the album. April 5th 2005 , Fantômas released an initial pressing (a regularly formatted CD version was later released) of their 4th studio album " Suspended Animation " in a limited run, a spiral bound calendar for the month of April. Probably one if not the most clever packaging I've ever seen for an album. The calendar, as well as coinciding with each track name (Days 1-30), celebrates all of the quirky holidays in the month of April. Added to that, is a children's toy theme that has a steady flow throughout within the artwork as well as the music. Artwork for this album was provided by the highly talented and creative artist Yoshitomo Nara .
